Opposing View: Panthers at Jets

On the rookie safeties, Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams: "They work hard everyday. They spend a lot of time in the film room. Mentally, I'm more impressed with the progress than anything else. As rookies, they're going to have some growing pains, but they bring a lot of energy and make their positive plays. They hardly make the same mistakes twice. Their work ethic is what's going to make them great players and that's what they've been working on."

On Julius Peppers: "It's unbelievable. He's playing like he's 25 years old. That's a credit to him and keeping his body in great condition, not taking the game for granted. Obviously he studies and he's a great technician. That's just who he is."

On importance of running game and opening up the pass against the Panthers defense: "It's important to get it going every weekend. You don't rank poorly against the pass when you're playing with a lead and (the other team) starts throwing the football. That's highly overrated, but we try to run the ball every weekend and just judging the way the last game went against Tampa, we always need to establish the run regardless of who we're playing."

On if the Panthers can sustain their recent offensive production: "They've been sustaining it for a while now. You can see them sustaining it very easily. At the beginning of the year, everyone is trying to find themselves, us included. They found their niche, what works for them and they do a great job."

On Kawann Short: "He's big, he's athletic, he can shoot the gaps. Overall football player - outstanding."
